Abstract

For post stack seismic volumes, a major challenge continues to be bringing out desired features while reducing unwanted ones. For seismic volumes that have a distinct noise component, noise often masks post stack attribute results and can hide features. Using post stack curvature attribute generation and specifying an azimuthal direction for calculating the curvature, unwanted directional noise can be significantly reduced and major features in resultant curvature volumes imaged more clearly.
