P328 A Hybrid Scattering Model of Scalar/Viscoacoustic Wavefield Events K.A. Innanen* (University of Houston) SUMMARY Scattering theory is a direct non-linear framework for calculating wavefields in complex heterogeneous media. A 3D wave-theoretic model (based on the scalar/viscoacoustic wave equation) of reflected primaries and transmitted direct waves is derivable based on retention/rejection of certain pre- and postscattering Green's function propagation directions. This model generates primaries that have propagated through a complex overburden and interacted with a complex target but represents an intensive computation problem.
