Magnetomineralogical study of old metallurgical slags form the river Trostyanytsya deposits (Zhytomyr region)

The results of thermomagnetic and room-temperature hysteresis measurements on two placer samples of old iron-metallurgy slags collected in Trostyanytsya river (Malyn dist., Zhytomyr region) are analyzed. Fayalite predominate in mineralogical content of slags, however their magnetism is controlled by various ferromagnetic inclusions and impurities. Magnetite and other relatively hard magnetic phase with Тс~4300С are reliably determined in slags.
