Because of the cost, seismic data are seldom acquired with a sampling that is optimal for seismic processing. To produce data with optimal sampling, interpolating or regularizing the seismic data may be used, not only to improve the resolution of the results, but to reduce the cost of acquiring seismic surveys. Multi‐dimensional interpolation methods that allow seismic data to be de‐aliased can provide significant improvements in quality and ease‐of‐use over older interpolation methods.
