Abstract

The detection of production changes on 4D seismic is dependent on both the strength of the 4D signal and the strength of the 4D noise. Historically the emphasis of 4D feasibility studies has been to predict the likely 4D signal based on an understanding of the rock properties. An accurate prediction of 4D noise levels can be just as important however, especially where a weak 4D signal is expected.
