Abstract
Starting with the general concept of second-order traveltime approximations for seismic reflection imaging, we discuss the number of free parameters, i.e., spatial derivatives of the traveltime, for different acquisition geometries and processing approaches ranging from the most general multi-parameter problem down to the well-known single-parameter approach used in the common-midpoint stack.
