Abstract
Gas chimneys" and "gas plumes", poor seismic data zones above gas-hearing structures, are quite common and characteristic in hydrocarbon productive basins. Scatterering of seismic energy causes poor data zones in the cap rock penetrated by leaked gas above a gas reservoir.
