Abstract

The measurement of formation resistivities always induces errors as a result of the applied method. Different methods have been established and compared in an environmental study of the groundwater pollution caused by a gypsum dump site situated in the industrial area to the north of Ghent, along the banks of the Maritime Canal Ghent-Terneuzen. An overview of the applied resistivity methods is given. Three core borings were executed for the evaluation. Penetrometer based electrical resistivity measurements combined with in-situ groundwater sampling may be a useful tool for providing detailed information for environmental investigations
