Abstract

An isotropic elastic medium with a single system of parallel fractures or microcracks serves as a reservoir model. It can be represented by an equivalent transversely isotropic medium with symmetry axis normal to the fracture planes (Hudson 1981, Schoenberg & Douma 1988).
