Abstract
As a result of thorough research carried out in the Dnieper-Donets Basin (DDB) and generalizing on a number of other oil/gas-bearing basins (the Volga-Urals, Western Siberia, Anadarko and others), there has been made an analysis of how such geological characteristics as sedimentation rate, thickness of deposits, depth of productive sequences; basement surface and Moho boundaries, extent of washout of deposits at hiatuses, presence of deep faults as well as the paleoparameters of hydrocarbon (HC) traps affect the size of oil/gas fields.
