Abstract
Recent experimental studies (Lynn et al., 1995) have shown that P-wave signatures, including reflection moveout, are sensitive to the presence of azimuthal anisotropy. Transverse isotropy with a horizontal axis of symmetry (HTI) is the simplest azimuthally anisotropic model caused by vertical penny-shaped cracks embedded in an isotropic matrix.
