Abstract

Preserving vibrator generated harmonics for high resolution vibroseis Generating vibrator sweep of large bandwidth in high resolution seismic survey can be easy but preserving high frequency content into the earth is limited by near surface velocity discontinuity and baseplate ground decoupling at resonant frequencies. In order to build high resolution seismic sections, we propose to take into account the usually eliminated vibrator generated harmonics. This technique requires preservation of high frequencies during sweep correlation and post-correlation processing. Seismic traces obtained after fundamental sweep correlation and after fundamental and harmonic sweep correlation are compared to evaluate improvements due to preservation of harmonics.
