Abstract

In interpreting geophysical data, it is important to confirm the results obtained from one method by an independent second one. For example, in interpreting 3D velocity structures, ambiguities can be clarified by gravity modelling if the 3D density models, constrained by the initial velocity model, satisfy the observed gravity field. Velocity values may be converted into densities using the Nafe- Drake curves or the Birch relationship between velocity of the compressional seismic data and density (Nafe & Drake, 1963).
