Abstract

This talk will chronicle the use of interactive workstations for processing very large marine 3D surveys in the author's company from early 1993 until the present. The talk will consist of two phases. Phase one will summarize two large Gulf of Mexico marine 3D surveys processed entirely on workstations in 1993. To the best of our knowledge, this was an industry first, and represented a significant milestone in workstation seismic processing. In phase two, we describe the evolution of this system to the present day, and its use in a shallow water, 3D program in the Gulf of Mexico. The talk will detail these projects in terms of the scope of work, processing flow, production and throughput statistics, hardware and software configuration and coat, and stalling requirements
