The improved resolving capabilities of zero phase data over the corresponding minimum phase version have been known for more than two decades. Still it is only recently that the use of zero phase sections has become standard practice within oil companies. There are several reasons why it has taken so long. One reason is that processing for zero phase is technically more demanding because a certain level of phase control is needed. Another reason is that it involves more processing steps.
