Abstract

The attenuation of high amplitude, intermediate period multiples (150-300ms) with little velocity contrast is relatively difficult using existing methods. The tools utilised for the attenuation of short period and long period multiples are well known and have established characteristics e.g. Yilmaz, 1984. Attenuation of localised high amplitude multiples can be achieved through wavefield separation using time domain or frequency domain techniques. The techniques used here are developed on stacked sections although implementation on pre-stack data may also be appropriate.
