Abstract
Conoco and Archangelskgeologia (AG) have formed the joint venture Polar Lights to develop Ardalin Field in the Timan Pechora Basin of Russia. Ardalin Field is a combined structural/stratigraphic trap formed by carbonate build-up deposition from the Silurian to the Late Devonian. Drape of deeper water contemporaneous deposits, and subsequent nonbuildup sediments over the thick build-up create a seismically welldefined structure. Hydrocarbons are accumulated in the top of the structure in porous Famennian (Upper Devonian) limestones. The reservoir comprises interbedded microbial boundstones (thrombolites), peloidal/ skeletel grainstones, and microbial laminites.
