Abstract
The geothermal history of the Solway Basin Complex (Solway, Stranraer, Dumfries and Carlisle Basins) has been evaluated in detail as part of a major hydrocarbon prospectivity study of the Dinantian and Permo-Triassic sections in this region. Thermal history reconstruction in Solway, based upon Apatite Fission Track Analysis (AFTA), vitrinite reflectance (VR) data from outcrop samples, onshore wells and shallow offshore boreholes, integrated with burial history modelling has revealed four distinct thermal provinces.
