Abstract
In this paper a new method of the reflection tomographic kind is described, with the purpose of estimating an improved macro-velocity field for pre-stack depth migration. We have implemented an event-oriented local approach of the `layer-stripping' type, in which the event representation is referring to the unmigrated time domain. Each event is defined in terms of a few characteristic parameters, depending on the sorting criterion applied to the seismic data.
