Commercially available pulsed ground penetrating radar systems use broad bandwidth dipole antennas to transmit and receive radar signals. A fixed transmitter pulse is fed to the antenna . An electromagnetic pulse is radiated from the antenna with a center frequency that is dependent on the antenna dimensions. To change the frequency of the radiated pulse it is necessary to use an antenna with different dimensions . Hence a number of antennas are necessary for the practitioner to perform a variety of tasks witti differing range and resolution requirements .
