Abstract

In the past several different diffraction tomography algorithms have been proposed, mostly tor applications in medical diagnostics. But each of these algorithms requires linearization with respect to a uniform reference medium and regular sampling along a straight line. Thus; these methods wilt not work well when the background is strongly non-uniform. In this paper we describe the concept of generalized acoustical diffractíon tomography (GADT), which in principle can handle irregularly spaced data, curved acquisition lines, and non-uniform background models .
