Abstract
Anisotropy causes an angle dependence of the phase and ray velocities. Therefore the x2-t2 travel time curve deviates from a straight line even for reflected waves in a single layer. This deviation leads to an incorrect estimation of velocities and reflector depths when standard processing techniques are used. qSV-waves in particular are influenced by anisotropy.
