f Seismic simulation by the tip wave superposition method in complex 3D geological models

A new approach to the simulation of seismic waves in complex 3-D media is outlined and tested on . roodels from several North Sea fields. The method, which essentially is an extension of the method of seismic modelling by the edge wave theory, provides realistic seismograms for roodels with curved boundaries and faults. Important geometrical aspects of the ray method are preserved and a more complete seismic response is obtained, but with more computational effort th an by the ray method.
