Abstract

Summary

Fluids saturation pattern may affect the properties of reservoirs. In this paper we focus on the variation of velocity-gas saturation relationship induced by different fluids saturation patterns. We measure the velocity-gas saturation relationships of high porosity sand and tight sand samples and compare with theoretical calculation results when gas-brine mixed fluids are uniform distribution or patchy saturation. On this basis we build tight gas sand model and compare the AVO response variations. The result shows that when fluids are patchy saturation the AVO curve and attributes crossplot will be more helpful for gas saturation evaluation.
