The fictitious wave domain had been used only to reduce CPU time until a fast finite-different time-domain (FDTD) method using the fictitious wave domain has been developed recently. In this study, we focus on the characteristics of the propagation of electromagnetic field in the fictitious wave domain for extracting the response of gas hydrate in the subsurface. We compared the receiver waveform in both diffusive and fictitious wave domains using the same 3D resistive model. Our results show that the fictitious wave domain could be utilized to improve the gas hydrate response by separating the waves through the sub-seafloor and sea water. We then examined to transform the domain from the diffusive to the fictitious wave. Although waveforms are rather smooth, we achieved to separate the waveform and improved the gas hydrate response.
