Abstract

Civil engineers use geophysics for site characterisation to reduce geotechnical risks associated with construction by improving the accuracy of geotechnical models and to provide design parameters. Unlike exploration geophysics where successful outcomes, i.e. new discoveries are improbable, geotechnical engineers always expect successful outcomes with geophysical interpretations accurately representing the subsurface.
