Abstract

Article presents geosteering methods used in Lunskoye field. First two ways are based on azimuthal measurements while drilling, the third is comparing between actual and synthetic logs. In addition to method description the article describes areas of application of each methods, best practices and limitations. All geosteering techniques were verified on wide range of data that includes: Real-time LWD logs, borehole images (BHI) and MWD surveys. Geological monitoring of drilling practices is shown on Lunskoye field example: • For setting casing shoes in target depth; • For structure fault position determination; • For real-time geological steering well trajectory. It is presented a case study of drilling one of the most difficult wells in Lunskoye field. Finally, actual reservoir structure had significant changes and based on LWD data hard geosteering work was required
