Abstract
S-inversion is a fast inversion method for Transient Electromagnetic (TDEM) geophysical prospecting. Tikhonov regularization is always used in S-inversion to make the inversion problem stable and well-posed. In this paper we introduce a new stabilizer with an adjustable factor in Tikhonov regularized S-inversion, one can obtain sharp or smooth solution by changing the adjustable factor in the stabilizer successfully. Our approach is based on the relation of the smoothness of a model and its gradient. The sign of the factor plays the role for different applications. Example shows our approach is a fast and direct way for changing purposes of an inversion, which becomes more convenient and efficient, especially for real-time processing during a big survey.
