Abstract
The article daels with the results of geophysical investigations of Djankent fortress, which was the capital of Oguz Turks, the historical Turkic tribal confederation. Very small part of the site (its size iz about 250×450 m) were explored by the means of archaeological excavations, so the aim of geophysical researches was investigation of the origin and structure of the base of a settlement (the average nowadays height is about 6 m) and recostruction of the ancient planning of some districs. The task was successfully completed by the means of electrial resistivity imaging and magnetic survey. The electrical tomography showed, that the base of fortress was made artificially with complex technology. The results of magnetic survey enabled to reveal the planning of a district, consisting of parts (40×40 m) with four yards in each part.
