Abstract

Oil and gas fields are dynamic systems undergoing constant depletion by diffusion, effusion, and chemical decomposition, and renewal by constant influx of new volumes of hydrocarbons. Many oil and gas fields are effectively inexhaustible, they are recharging, but at rates of recharging typically much smaller than the rate of oil and gas withdrawal by production.
