Abstract

A new concept for a physics-based integration of the velocity and attenuation of seismic waves in the shallow subsoil is proposed and tested. The theories of poroelasticity explaining the frequency-dependent seismic wave propagation have been explored. The integration leads to simultaneous estimation of two or more important soil properties in undisturbed condition, which is otherwise difficult if not impossible to achieve. The results of application to field data look promising.
