Abstract

Summary

A new edge detection method with an excellent anti-noise performance is proposed based on high-dimensional wavelet transform. Firstly, we change 3D seismic data to complex seismic traces using Hilbert transform, then extract the instantaneous attribute - phase cosine. Secondly, using high-dimensional wavelet transform as a novel tool, we can transform phase cosine data to a higher dimensional space including six parameters, including three-dimensional coordinates, dip angle, azimuth angle and scale. Finally, by fixing the scale and scanning dip and azimuth angles, we can obtain the discontinuity value of high S/N ratio at each point. This method can effectively suppress the pseudo boundary information caused by discontinuity between the tilted strata. The synthetic data and real oilfield data results show that stratigraphic edge such as tiny fault and small channel are better depicted by using proposed method than C3 algorithm.
