Abstract

Summary

This paper proposed a new parameter ,that is the product of Young modulus and density(Eρ)which is just dependent on the acoustic impedance of p-wave and s-wave, to characterize rock brittleness. Further study show that Eρ is more efficient and stable for evaluation of brittleness than common parameters of brittleness, and also effectively distinguish the brittleness of different lithology by analysis of actual well, also the brittleness prediction result is agreement with result of mechanistic experiment about rocks of different lithology. The drilling result such as well W3 indicate that this method can better predict the brittleness of tight oil reservoir, and it has certain reference for brittleness prediction of the unconventional reservoir in other regions.
