Abstract

Summary

Due to a variable subsurface Vp/Vs, the progressof squeezing converted-wave (PS) data from PS to PP time causes wavelet distortion, the lack of a consistent seismic wavelet in a domain converted PS volume can eventually lead to erroneous joint PP/PS inversion results. Furthermore, most correction methods assumed the seismic source wavelet to be time-invariant, or stationary. In practice, seismic scattering and attenuation lead to non-stationary seismic source wavelets. To simultaneously correct the wavelet distortion due to domain conversion and compensate attenuation, we propose to approximate the time-variant wavelet spectra using the generalized S-transform and the non-stationary polynomial fitting. Assuming the wavlet to be zero-phased, we then construct a new time-frequency deconvolution operator derived from Gabor deconvolution operator. Next, we use Fourier scaling theorem to predict the wavelet in the converted domain and calculate the shaping filter. The hybrid filter is applied to the domain-converted data using the method of nonstationary filtering. The application on synthetic and field migration data demonstrates the validity of the proposed scheme.
