Abstract

Summary

Estimating the permeability in clastic rocks and its dependency on the grain size has been the subject of several papers in the past (e.g. or ). Our newly presented modification of Herron’s intrinsic permeability equation (1987), commonly used in well log interpretation, can now find the seamless application in reservoir modeling workflows. Applicability of the modified equation in various cases demonstrated the added monetary value, by using either basic mud-log description, petrographic analysis or advanced high resolution permeability from borehole images to link geological attributes to petrophysical properties.
