We apply the logarithmic phase-only inversion to the near-surface data. The near-surface data has issues of the unbalanced amplitudes of traces along offset, discrepancy in amplitude decays between 2D and 3D models, and the static correction related with the weathering zone. These issues often demand proper and intensive preprocessing for the data. On the other hand, since the logarithmic phase-only inversion ignores the amplitude information of the data during the inversion, it can automatically address the issues related with amplitude of traces. We also the estimate source wavelet separately for each shot to alleviate the delays caused by the weathering zone. Even though we do not do any pre-processing for the near-surface data, the logarithmic phase-only inversion provides a convergent result.
