Abstract

Summary

The results of the first geochemical investigation of the organic matter from the Late Neoproterozoic Kharayutekh Formation widely distributed in the Kharaulakh Ranges of northeastern Siberia are presented. Data shows that the Middle Kharayutekh Member can be regarded as a potential source rock. Natural bitumen and/or gas deposits associated with the realisation of the hydrocarbon generative potential of the Kharayutekh rocks can be found in the Arctic region of Northeastern Siberia.
