Abstract

Summary

The volatile components released from hydrate-bearing sediment collected in South China Sea via home-made apparatus comprise high abundance of diamondoids and show high stage of molecular maturity parameters, implying that they should be mainly derived from the mature to postmature source rock beds in the QND Basin. This supports that thermogenic gas does significantly contribute the gas hydrate in this area.
