Abstract

Summary

On the basis of the conducted analytical studies, a dependence for determining the drilling anisotropy index when drilling in inclined formations was obtained. The drilling index of anisotropy was analytically determined based on industrial data for different deposits and areas. Based on the results of experimental studies of the strength characteristics of rock samples, the drilling index of anisotropy was determined. Analyzing the results of laboratory studies, it was found that the values of the drilling anisotropy index, determined experimentally, practically coincide with those calculated analytically. With a known drilling anisotropy index, bottomhole assembly, well geometry, and formation inclination, the WOB can be determined.
