Abstract
'Structure-fitting amplitudes' is a generic name given to a category of potential direct hydrocarbon indicators (DHI), which are currently fashionable within the hydrocarbon exploration community. These phenomena are also referred to as amplitude 'switching oní or ëcutting off.' The change in amplitude theoretically marks a change in impedance due to change in reservoir fluid content (oil or gas to brine) at the trap limit.
