Drilling in the foothills of the Andes mountain range in South America is a complex task due to
the very unpredictable structural setting of the producing formations and to the geomechanical
challenge to “land” the well in the right spot of the reservoir. The amount and type of log data
collected for reservoir management purposes during field development, especially when the
above conditions exist; depend on factors such as field type, reservoir maturity and company
philosophy with regards to reservoir management and operational risk.
