Abstract
Geophysical techniques react to the physical properties of earth materials, and are generally used to detect anomalies in the distribution of the physical properties. Pollution changes the
physical properties of earth materials. Geophysical techniques may be used to indicate, and in some cases even to quantify these changes. This work assesses the usefulness of various
geophysical techniques in the detection and monitoring of water pollution, and presents two case histories.
