Subsalt Imaging: The Raz - Waz Experience in the Gulf of Mexico

As with many advancements in technology, RAZ-WAZ developed in the Gulf of Mexico with the objective of addressing the challenge of imaging subsalt. However, as with many previous technologies in the seismic arena, such as Depth Imaging, it is now being seen as a tool that has worldwide application in similar or other geological setting across the world. Hence in this paper we look at the development of WAZ technology in recent years in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as recent advancements in respect to operation efficiency, such as Coil shooting, that may also grow in importance in seismic exploration worldwide in the near future.
