Abstract
With the improvement in data quality and amplitude preserving preprocessing techniques, linearized inverse scattering algorithms can recover multiparameter information of the subsurface. In this context, an elastic migration/inversion (M/I) is applied to obtain high-resolution depth images representing approximately changes in elastic properties (e.g., P and S waves, and density) of a reservoir region. This technique uses ray and Born approximations within a least squares optimization scheme, and is formulated in the space-time domain. It consists in a prestack depth migration of the data, followed by an inversion at depth. Elastic images are estimated from amplitude changes with offset of the data.
