Abstract
S041 SEISMIC ACQUISITION IN SENSITIVE ENVIRONMENT ARCHAEOLOGY AND VISUAL IMPACT – EXAMPLE OF THE NC 191 BLOCK MURZUK BASIN LIBYA In December 2001 TotalFinaElf E&P Libye (TEP Libye) started a 3400 km 2D seismic acquisition campaign on block NC191 in a desert area of the Murzuk basin in the southwest of Libya. Results from EBS and EIA studies showed that the environment is very sensitive and has a rich Paleolithic and Neolithic archaeological patrimony. 1 OLIVIER WATTEZ 1 FRANCIS CLEMENT 1 and MARIE PIERRE DUVAL-VALENTIN 2 TEP Libye decided to put a permanent archeological team of European and Libyan experts
