Abstract

The purpose of this work was to determine the methodology of GPR measurements in flood embankments investigation. GPR allows to indicate the inhomogeneity in geological structure, loose zones and saturated zones. Usually flood embankments are constructed with clays, shales and sands. Modeling was carried out for signals with dominant frequencies: 50 MHz, 100 MHz, 200 MHz and 500 MHz. Different geological structure and water saturation were assumed. Due to geological structure (presence of low resistivity clays) attenuation of electromagnetic wave was high. In case of more sandy embankments detection of any loose zones and saturated zones is easier.
