Abstract
D031 Hydrocarbon Detection Using Lambda–Rho Attribute Computed from Prestack Seismic Data J.C. Obilo* (Schlumberger Nigeria) M. Francis (Schlumberger Gatwick UK) C. Ojo (Nigeria Agip Oil Company) & P. Licalsi (Nigeria Agip Oil Company) SUMMARY This paper describes the application of lambda-rho attribute derived from prestack seismic data inversion to detect and delineate hydrocarbon reservoirs in the coastal swamp depobelt of the Niger Delta. Results show that hydrocarbon sands are associated with low values of lambda-rho compared to brine sands and shales. Lambda-rho is estimated for the entire 3D volume from acoustic and shear impedances being the result of prestack inversion
