Abstract

A method is presented to model post-stack seismic data by simple stratigraphic interpolation of the 'seismic character'. The seismic character is derived from the seismic data at the well positions. Interpolation is done using interpreted time horizons and a stratigraphic framework that describes the relations between the horizons and the interpolation type (conformable, onlap, offlap, truncation, fault). The method does not use the convolution modeling assumption. This implies that modeling can be done without estimating a wavelet. It is also possible to forward model seismic attribute data directly.
