Abstract

We present a new method to compute the variation of pressure and volume of the oscillating bubble emitted by an air gun directly from a pressure measurement made outside the bubble. The equation of state of the contents of the bubble is found to be different for expansion and collapse, and indicates that heat transfer, rather than the effects of viscosity, is the major source of damping of the oscillations.
