Abstract

Gravity and magnetic data have played an important part in de fining plate tectonic models over the years. Magnetic anomalies in the oceans are important age markers and define how lithospheric plates have to be reconstructed with time; marine gravity data on the other hand (along with bathymetric information) show the fracture zones along which platen have moved relative to each other through time.
